Best-selling author Jackie Collins has passed away. The beloved writer lost her battle with breast cancer on Sept. 19 at the age of 77. She will be missed.
Jackie Collins has gained her wings. The New York Times best-selling author died on Sept. 19 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 77 years old. Her family released a statement and said she was “true inspiration” and will “live on” through her characters.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today,” Jackie’s family told PEOPLE in a statement. “She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”
The Poor Little Bitch Girl and Drop Dead Beautiful author was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2009. Jackie was one of the world’s most well-known authors for over four decades. Over 500 million copies of her books have been sold worldwide. The British author just released her newest book, The Santangelos, in June 2015.
“She was my best friend, ” her sister, actress Joan Collins, said. “I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her.”
Jackie is survived by her three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46. She also has six grandchildren. Private services will be held in the United States and the United Kingdom. Her legacy will live on forever. We’ll miss you, Jackie.
